Carlo has led the North America (United States and Canada) operations of Suntory Global Spirits (formerly “Beam Suntory, Inc.”), the Company’s most profitable region, since being appointed in May 2024. In addition to his current operating role, his career has included a series of diverse functional and increasingly impactful roles, including global branding and marketing management; general management; regional marketing and sales; and accounting and financial management. Immediately prior to assuming his current role, Carlo served as President of American Whiskey & Tequila and Global Managing Director of the James B. Beam Distilling Company. In those roles he oversaw the marketing and business management of the Company’s priority bourbon brands, Jim Beam®, Knob Creek®, Basil Hayden®, Bookers® and Maker’s Mark®; and the Tequila Portfolio that includes El Tesoro®, Tres Generaciones® and Hornitos®.
Carlo’s Suntory career began in September 2007 as Director of Business Development and Activation for the East Region of Beam, Inc. His strategic approach and diverse leadership and functional experience resulted in a series of increasingly impactful finance, marketing and sales roles from 2009 to 2017. He was promoted to Regional General Sales Manager in 2017, responsible for managing the expanded distribution relationship with Southern Glazer’s; and to Chief Commercial Officer for the U.S. market in 2020, responsible for the sales and regional marketing organization until late 2022.
Carlo is deeply invested in ensuring his team members are supported with the proper tools to fully develop their professional skills and pursue their career ambitions, and has always made it a top priority to ensure that his teams best reflect the consumers and communities that they represent.
Prior to joining Beam, Inc. in 2007, Carlo served as Senior Manager of Finance for Malibu-Kahlua International, a unit of Pernod Ricard, for one year after spending three years with Allied Domecq as Finance Manager for North America. Beginning his career, Carlo worked for both Arthur Andersen & Company and Deloitte for a combined six years.
Carlo’s academic and professional credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Connecticut, a CPA license, and completion of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2023. He resides in Wilton, Connecticut with his wife, Amanda, and their four children.
